Why I Use Fragrance Oils Instead of Essential Oils
So, why not essential oils?
I know essential oils seem to be the trendy thing these days and they can have great health benefits when used properly. I use essential oils in our home in a variety of ways, but never in my candles or melts. Some essential oils can become toxic to the body when heated or burned causing possible illness or even allergies. This is why I have chosen to only use very high quality fragrance oils. Oils made to the strictest standards which have removed all potentially harmful chemicals including those found on California's Prop 65 list. Sadly, these chemicals are commonly found in most other fragrance oils that are use in other candles are melts.
My fragrance oils are made WITHOUT the use of:
Phthalates - These are chemicals used in plastics and as solvents. They are known to cause damage to the liver, kidneys, lungs, and reproductive system.
Carcinogens - These are materials known or thought to cause cancer.
Mutagens - Materials that change the DNA of a cell, harming the cell and causing diseases like cancer.
Reproductive toxins - Toxins that adversely affect reproductive organs and increase the risk of birth defects.
Organ toxins - These are toxins that can cause adverse effects or disease within specific bodily organs.
Acute toxins - Toxins that can cause adverse effects from a single exposure. Generally, this would be accidental exposure such as spillage or ingestion.
